Transavia Netherlands, founded on September 21, 1965, by Dutch businessman John Block, initially operated as Transavia Limburg N.V. It began its journey as a charter airline, offering flights to various holiday destinations in Europe. In 1986, Transavia was acquired by the Nedlloyd Group, which expanded its operations and transformed it into a scheduled airline. Over the years, Transavia evolved into a low-cost carrier, focusing on providing affordable flights across Europe and North Africa.

In 1991, Transavia merged with Netherlines to strengthen its market position. The airline continued to grow, introducing new routes and expanding its fleet. In 2003, Transavia became a subsidiary of KLM, the Dutch flag carrier. This partnership enabled Transavia to enhance its network and services further.
